Sr. Revenue Accountant (Ref: 730SRA240916)

Position Summary:

The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the Revenue Team; responsible for bookings, recognition, backlog management and reporting in accordance with GAAP principles and company policies. The team works closely and collaboratively the Sales, Operations, Business Development and Management. 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • As a key member of the Revenue team, responsible for the management of the monthly billing and revenue recognition in accordance with Company policy and GAAP.
  • Manage revenue analysts, including reviewing daily/monthly/quarterly revenue activity.
  • Account for deferred revenues, including billing, deferrals, amortizations and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to and develop policies and procedures for revenue operations; including establishing feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish control processes to validate bookings, billings and recognition compliance; and initiate corrective actions for non-conforming transactions in a timely manner.
  • Review and post all invoices and adjustments.
  • Manage communications with sales executives and operations team members regarding administrative revenue processing issues associated with their customers.
  • Enhance reporting tools and processes.
  • Assist with data migration, validation and new process development for Accounting and Operational system conversions and enhancements.
  • Monthly and ad-hoc revenue reporting and analysis.
  • Develop revenue treatments for non-standard transactions and new offerings; communicate and implement new procedures to stakeholders and process owners; transfer knowledge to colleagues to ensure consistent application and execution.
  • Prepare audit PBC schedules; submit to and review with management and audit team.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and gap mitigation and work independently and collaboratively to deploy process enhancements, controls and solutions.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

Position Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years as revenue accountant or higher, preferably in a high growth media, technology or internet company.
  • 2+ years supervisory management experience.
  • Hands on experience in the quote to cash process; including order review, invoicing, deferral management, posting, accrual and amortization entries, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of SOP 97-2, EITF 00-21 and SAB 101/104 and related literature.
  • Demonstrated initiative and success in the development and implementation of billing and revenue recognition process improvements.
  • Strong technical revenue accounting skills and the experience to apply to revenue recognition principles to specific transactions and new service offerings.
  • Previous experience with assessment and development of revenue treatments for new services and non-standard contracts.
  • A team orientation is required; the ability to mentor and train colleagues and also to be an active and receptive trainee. 
  • A strong drive for excellence with an established practice of eliciting functional and cross functional collaboration to achieve excellence/results.
  • Excellent follow-through and meticulous eye for detail.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and work with grace under pressure.
  • Process and policy development, deployment and post deployment review.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Access skills are required; including development of data joins from multiple sources.
