Finance:
Revenue Accountant (Ref: 730REA211007)

Position Summary:

The Revenue Accountant is an individual contributor on the Revenue Team; responsible for review of new bookings, invoice creation, revenue recognition and reserve management in accordance with GAAP principles and company policies. The Revenue Accountant works closely and collaboratively the Sales, Operations, and other Finance team members.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of the billing and revenue recognition of assigned accounts and product lines in accordance with Company policy and GAAP principles.
  • Review new and revised bookings in sales order module to ensure accuracy and compliance with arrangement transactional order, master service agreements and established customer requirements; resolve discrepancies with Order Management and Sales.
  • Generate invoices and manage unbilled transactions.
  • Management of deferred revenues and revenue reserves; including initial billing, amortizations, reconciliations, resolution tracking and communications and end of period reserve adjustments.
  • Respond to billing inquiries, reconcile discrepancies and initiate billing corrections as required.
  • Contribute to the development of process documentation and the defining and deployment of new processes as the result of new service offerings and the launch of new systems and tools.
  • Provide active feedback to internal teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Create ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
  • Manage communications with sales executives and operations team members regarding administrative revenue processing issues associated with their customers.
  • Maintain complete documentation.
  • Respond to audit PBCs and documentation requests as assigned.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

Position Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of increasingly responsible billing and revenue accounting experience, preferably in a high growth media, technology or internet company.
  • Hands on experience in the quote to cash process; including order review, invoicing, deferral management, accruals/amortization entries, and reconciliations.
  • Understanding of SOP 97-2, EITF 00-21 and SAB 101/104 and related literature.
  • Demonstrated initiative and success in the development and implementation of billing and revenue recognition process improvements.
  • A strong drive for excellence with an established practice of eliciting functional and cross functional collaboration to achieve excellence/results.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent follow-through and meticulous eye for detail.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and work with grace under pressure.
  • Microsoft Excel 2007 is required; including development of new worksheets, lookups and pivot tables.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting, Finance or a related major.
