Our Technology

Coupons.com Incorporated has built a suite of products and services utilizing our core coupon technology, providing clients with a solution to coupon-based promotions and consumer services. Our secure technology gives clients tight control over the number of coupons distributed, which helps to limit redemption – whether a consumer chooses to print a coupon or download a Save to Card coupon.

Distribution Control

Our systems control the total number of coupons distributed by enforcing three different limits:

  • Device-based limits
  • PIN-based limits
  • Campaign-based limits

These limits are enforced across the entire Coupons.com Digital FSI network, including online printable and Save to Card solutions. With Save to Card, consumers can create a user account and store their existing savings card (i.e. grocery store loyalty card) numbers on Coupons.com, where they are able to download coupon offers directly to their savings card. Coupons.com can limit the coupon offers a user prints or downloads to their savings card, effectively controlling distribution for both printable and Save to Card solutions.

The Coupon Printer

Before consumers print their first coupon from our systems, they must install the Coupon Printer, an industry-standard browser plug-in. Unlike cookie-based controls, removing and reinstalling the Coupon Printer does not affect its security settings. Moreover, a coupon never appears on the consumer's screen. Instead, it is sent directly to their printer, to prevent duplication of the coupon. The Coupon Printer also provides each coupon with barcodes that can be scanned at the point of sale.

Each Coupon is Unique

Each printed coupon carries a unique ID that is encrypted in a 2-D PDF417 barcode, enabling each coupon to be traced from print to redemption. All Coupons.com Incorporated coupons can be authenticated using this unique code. This unique ID also can be used to detect counterfeit or altered coupons.
